Call for book chapter on Cognitive Radio Networks
CALL FOR BOOK CHAPTER
Title: Cognitive Radio Networks: Architectures, Protocols and Standards
(to be published by Auerbach Publications, Taylor&Francis Group) http://www.crcpress.com/)
http://home.simula.no/~yanzhang/CognitiveCFP.html
Introduction ============ Cognitive radio is a highly promising communications paradigm to address the spectrum insufficiency problem. Spectrum is a scarce and precious resource in wireless communication systems and networks. It refers to the potentiality that systems are aware of context and capable of reconfiguring themselves based on the surrounding environments and their own properties with respect to traffic load, congestion situation, network topology, and wireless channel propagation etc. This capability is particularly applicable to resolve heterogeneity, robustness and openness. However, cognitive wireless networks are still in the very early stage of research and development. There are a number of technical, economical and regulatory challenges to be addressed. In addition, there are unique complexities in the aspects of spectrum sensing, spectrum management, spectrum sharing, and spectrum mobility.
Recommended Topics(not limited to) =================================== . Signal Processing . MIMO . Channel coding . Resource management . Mobility management . Energy management . Cross-layer design and optimization . Cooperation schemes . Routing . Medium Access Control . QoS provisioning . Security . Cognitive multi-hop networks, e.g. cognitive mesh networks . Spectrum management (e.g. spectrum sensing, spectrum sharing, spectrum handoff) . Case studies, testbed and experiment . Model and performance evaluation . Standards, e.g. IEEE 802.22 . Regulation and business model
Important Dates ================= You are invited to submit a 1-2 pages proposal discribing the topic of your chapter. The proposal should include the chapter organization, number of pages of the final manuscript and contact authors.
