[术语解说]BBLS中的两个Ｂ是什么意思？
通常描述石油桶数时，用单位ＢＢＬＳ，那么每个字母来自哪儿呢？
据官方资料介绍，ＢＢＬＳ，第一个Ｂ来指ＢＬＵＥ，ＢＬ来自Barrel，Ｓ则指桶的复数形式。
原来，早期时，石油桶没有标准容器，只是普通木桶，由于技术原因还会漏失，这个桶，就叫Barrel，缩写为Ｂ或ＢＬ，复数是Barrels，缩写为ＢＬＳ。后来，随着时代发展和工业需要，专门制作了运输石油的标准桶，统一刷涂为蓝色，称为标准桶，一桶为美式４２加仑，所以叫蓝桶。

What are the origins of this mysterious "b"? The answer, courtesy of the Energy Information Administration: Inthe early 1860's, when oil production began was no standardcontainer for oil, so oil and petroleum products were stored andtransported in barrels of all different shapes and sizes (beer barrels,fish barrels, molasses barrels, turpentine barrels, etc.). By the early1870's, the 42-gallon barrel had been adopted as the standard for oiltrade. This was 2 gallons per barrel more than the 40-gallon standardused by many other industries at the time. The extra 2 gallons was toallow for evaporation and leaking during tranport (most barrels weremade of wood). Standard Oil began manufacturing 42 gallon barrels thatwere blue to be used for transporting petroleum. The use of a blue barrel, abbreviated "bbl," guaranteed a buyer that this was a 42-gallon barrel.
